FAIR tRADE MPS!
In May 2013, during Fair Trade Fortnight, New Zealand Parliament/Pāremata Aotearoa was endorsed as a ‘Fair Trade Workplace’ under the Fair Trade Association’s Fair Trade Communities Project. While the Parliament as a whole has been endorsed, that commitment is yet to be carried by most of the individual MP’s.
The Fair Trade MP’s Project aims to engage the 121 members of the NZ Parliament in a dialogue about Fair Trade. It is hoped that a result of this engagement, that MPs will apply for their own parliamentary offices, as well as their local electorate offices to become part of the Fair Trade Communities Project signifying a wider commitment to the Fair Trade Movement.
