9th May - World Fair Trade Day 11am onwards, Trade Aid Dunedin, 133 George Street, Dunedin 9016 World Fair Trade Day is an inclusive worldwide festival of events celebrating Fair Trade. This year’s theme is ‘Be an Agent for Change’. Trade Aid’s Partners and Producers, volunteers, products and customers are all AGENTS OF HANDMADE CHANGE. Trade Aid believes that when trade is conducted fairly, it has the greatest potential to lift the world’s poor out of poverty. Open to public. More details to come: www.facebook.com/fairtradedunedin 12th May Fair Trade at the DCC 2.30pm – 5pm, Dunedin City Council An opportunity for Council staff to sample fair trade products and learn about fair trade, particularly from the perspective of Dunedin as a Fair Trade City. Staff will have the chance to hear from Daniel Kinne, a member of the Highland Organic Agricultural Cooperative, from Papua New Guinea, about how fair trade has impacted his community. 12th May Fair Trade After Work 5.30pm – 7pm Dunedin Public Library, 230 Moray Place, Dunedin This public event will be a great opportunity for members of our community to meet, hear from and speak with Daniel Kinne, a member of the Highland Organic Agricultural Cooperative, from Papua New Guinea. 13th May Fair Trade Breakfast 8am – 9am Otago Polytechnic, H1 Block One for the morning people! Everyone is invited for breakfast, a cuppa and a chat with Daniel Kinne, a visiting fair trade coffee farmer from Papua New Guinea. RSVP: jen.rodgers@op.ac.nz by 7 May 13th May University Fair Trade lunchtime talk 12.15pm – 1.30pm University of Otago, Main Common Room In celebration of Fair Trade Fortnight the University of Otago invites all to attend a lunchtime talk with Daniel Kinne, a fair trade farmer from Papua New Guinea. Learn about what it means to be a fair trade university and how you can get involved as a student or staff member. 13th May Enviroschools Celebrate Fair Trade 1.45pm – 2.30pm Bayfield High School, 2 Shore Street, Andersons Bay, Dunedin 9013 Fairtrade Australia New Zealand and Enviroschools Otago are supporting Daniel Kinne, a member of the Highland Organic Agricultural Cooperative, from Papua New Guinea, to share his story with Dunedin Enviroschools students and teachers. 16th May- Enviroschools Fair Trade Market Stall 8.30am – 12pm Otago Farmers Market, Dunedin Railway Station Celebrating fair and ethical trading at the Otago Farmers Market.
